Job Description

Our land development team is growing and we are seeking a Senior Land Use Planner within Ontario to work in a hybrid environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently coordinating the delivery of consulting work to private and public sector clients, including managing project teams, budgets, and other aspects of project administration;
  • Leading and supervising project team members, as needed;
  • Client management, including work to procure work from private and public sector clients;
  • Reviewing municipal and provincial planning documents and providing professional planning input and advice on land development projects and otherwise;
  • Liaising with municipalities and government agencies concerning development applications and other planning-related deliverables;
  • Conducting presentations (virtual and in-person) before municipal Committees and Councils;
  • Managing projects and coordinating approvals for development projects (e.g., subdivision, condominium, consent, minor variance, official plan amendment, rezoning, site plan, etc.);
  • Producing planning reports/rationales;
  • Reviewing development submissions on behalf of municipal clients.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have the following background, skills and attributes:

  • Completion of a university degree in land use planning or related discipline;
  • Registered Professional Planner (RPP) and a full Member of the Canadian Institute of Planners (MCIP);
  • Minimum five (5) years' experience in land use planning profession, preferably including experience in the private-sector and with supporting municipal-sector clients with development/peer review and policy review services;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English (French considered an asset);
  • Sound business development and client liaison skills and a keen entrepreneurial spirit;
  • Established skills and capabilities in project management, with the ability to manage dynamic projects of varying scales, including overseeing proposals, managing budgets, and leading project teams;
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, with clients and other relevant stakeholders;
  • Demonstrated leadership and people management skills including the ability to provide leadership to a variety of technical professionals;
  • Strong computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint and Word);
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and GIS considered an asset; and
  • Possess a valid driver's license and have access to a vehicle that has valid registration and insurance.
