The Opportunity

General Bank of Canada is looking for a temporary, full time Software Tester to join the organization as a key contributor with the Bank's Operations team. Consistent with the growth trajectory of the Bank, this is an excellent opportunity for the right individual to contribute to building the Bank of the future with considerable potential for learning, growth, and advancement. This is a temporary position with a 3-month contract, and is ideal for candidates seeking short-term employment.

Reporting to the Operations Strategy Manager, the Software Tester is a professional who will test the functionality and usability of new Credit Adjudication software before it goes live to ensure it is bug-free. They will work closely with business analysts and developers, providing them feedback on what needs improvement to produce top-quality programs that meet customer expectations.

This role will be required to translate requirements and identify improvement opportunities to ensure Operations can fully leverage the value of developed solutions. In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing and implementing systematic test plans, collaborating closely with software developers and project support to validate implemented requirements. Success will be demonstrated by producing high-quality work, identifying and addressing errors, and enhancing usability throughout the software development and implementation process.

Responsibilities

  • Review system specifications to understand testing requirements and objectives.
  • Execute both manual and automated test cases, analyzing outcomes for accuracy and functionality.
  • Evaluate product code for compliance with specifications and quality standards.
  • Create detailed logs to track testing phases, document defects, and capture user experience insights.
  • Identify and report bugs, defects, and impediments to development teams for resolution.
  • Assist in diagnosing and resolving technical issues during testing.
  • Conduct thorough post-release and post-implementation testing to ensure stability and performance.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to uphold quality standards and enhance product reliability.
  • Develop test scripts and execute test procedures to systematically validate software performance.

What You Bring to the Table

  • Candidates from various levels will be considered.
  • Post secondary education in Computer Science or Business Analyst or related field is considered an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, SharePoint, Excel).
  • Strong written, verbal, and visual communication skills applicable to testing environments.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills, effective in both independent and team settings.
  • Analytical abilities for interpreting complex logic and simplifying concepts.

Workplace Model: Remote / Hybrid.

Location: Edmonton

Working Conditions: This is a temporary position with a 3-month contract

Compensation: The salary range for this position is $19 to $26 per hour.
