How You Will Make an Impact
The successful candidate will extend our mission to our clients, visitors, and staff by providing timely support to the team and its functioning, while also ensuring client care and Program standards are being upheld. This particular role places emphasis on leadership and supporting the direct service staff with day-to-day tasks. The incumbent must be able to work independently in a challenging and rewarding values-based environment. In addition to front line shelter duties, this position requires leadership in the following areas:
- Providing support on the floor for co-workers, included but not limited to:
- Debriefing,
- Co-facilitating,
- Conflict resolution,
- Crisis intervention
- Taking initiative with client flow management and task assignment throughout a shift
- Facilitating client decision-making
- Facilitating team building, group cohesion, and promoting a positive staff culture
- Observe all health and safety rules and work in compliance with the provisions of the occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations
What You'll Bring to Our Team
- Minimum 3-years related experience or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Previous supervisory experience an asset.
- Post-Secondary education in social work or related field.
- Outgoing and adaptable in working in a fast paced and changing environment.
- Creativity and flexibility in achieving desired outcomes.
- Hospitable in dealings with clients and other key stakeholders.
- Available and responsive to the needs of others.
- Respectful and compassionate demeanor.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, computer, interpersonal, and organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to work productively both independently and as a member of a team.
- Fluency in a 2nd language is an asset.
- CPR certification or willingness to be certified is required.
- Valid G Driver's license required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of crisis intervention, de-escalation strategies and interventions, and an ability to remain calm in crisis situations.
