Job Title: Payroll Clerk

Reporting directly to the Senior Payroll Coordinator, the Payroll Clerk will primarily be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll, maintaining payroll records, and providing support to employees regarding payroll-related matters, while leveraging technology and creating efficiencies for our organization. We are a cohesive team at Skeena, focused on building value and we pride ourselves on being innovative.

Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

• Assist in preparing and processing of full-cycle semi-monthly payroll for 200+ employees (salary & hourly) accurately and on time.
• Verify employee hours worked in the system and resolve any discrepancies promptly prior to transmission to ensure accuracy of all information in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with various departments to ensure seamless payroll processing and following up on timecard submissions and approvals.
• Administer monthly benefits reconciliation to ensure all taxable benefits are accurately recorded for T4 purposes and compliance.
• Continuously evaluate and improve payroll processes to enhance overall efficiency, accuracy, effectiveness.
• Process Records of Employment and submit electronically to Service Canada.
• Main point of contact for payroll queries.
• Assist with year-end procedures, including internal and external audits, to ensure all payroll-related activities are properly documented.
• Support with monthly, quarterly payroll accounting and payroll journal entries.
• Prepare and ensure payroll related remittances and filings are completed in a timely manner including EHT, WCB, and taxes.
• Ensure payroll processing complies with the Employment Standards Act, staying updated on any changes to the legislation to maintain ongoing compliance.
• Perform other duties as required.


Experience / Qualifications:

• Payroll Compliance Practitioner designation or actively working towards one.
• Proficiency in UKG payroll software (or similar) and Microsoft Excel is a strong asset.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong organization and time-management skills.
• Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong ability to problem-solve and address concerns in a timely manner.

Work Conditions:

This position will be full-time, on a Monday-Friday schedule working primarily out of the Vancouver corporate office, with flexibility to work remotely on occasion.
