THE ROLE
Our client is seeking a passionate leader to fill an amazing opportunity as a Senior Corporate Accountant. The ideal candidate will showcase their ability to handle a range of tasks with precision and efficiency in a fast-paced environment. This essential accounting role will be responsible for ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting for the Garibaldi Groups corporate and venture entities. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and thrive in a dynamic work environment, bringing strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities while understanding targets and deadlines. Attention to detail and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively are key. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel) is required, and experience with Yardi Voyager and QuickBooks is highly preferred.
Accounting
- Manage full-cycle accounting tasks with minimal supervision, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, banking, and general journal entries, ensuring all supporting documentation is compiled.
- Preserve the integrity of the general ledger by recording and reconciling transactions and accounts accurately.
- Complete month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
- Monitor, oversee, and reconcile bank accounts regularly, anticipating future cash flow needs.
- Ensure GST and other mandated taxes and assessments are accurately reconciled and remitted.
- Prepare annual operating budgets, meeting deadlines effectively.
Financial Reporting
- Generate precise monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements and reporting packages on time.
- Ensure compliance and accuracy with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal policies.
- Conduct financial analyses and provide variance explanations for management, highlighting potential risks or areas for improvement.
- Act as the primary contact for the year-end audit and tax filing process, supplying supporting documentation and working papers.
Additional Responsibilities
- Offer recommendations for streamlining and enhancing accounting and reporting procedures.
- Cross-train in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll to provide backup as needed, ensuring continuity in financial operations.
- Perform additional administrative tasks as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) or similar certification preferred.
- A minimum of 35 years of accounting experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) at an advanced level.
- Strong understanding of accounting standards, principles, and GAAP regulations.
- Preferred proficiency in Yardi Voyager and QuickBooks.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and time-management skills with a demonstrated ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Keen attention to detail and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively, showing adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
