The Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority is seeking an experienced and self-motivated Financial Consultant to join its Financial Services Branch.
Reporting to the Manager, Financial Reporting, the Financial Consultant is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of financial statements and reports, budgeting and forecasting future financial results, analyzing, and overseeing the processing of financial information, and developing, implementing, monitoring, and recommending changes to various financial, accounting and management processes and procedures. The consultants will provide strategic and confidential consultation and advice on a broad range of functions while providing creative solutions to the organization related to the management and day-to-day operations of the organization. They will lead and participate in projects identifying current and future business needs, industry best practices, opportunities and challenges of the organization or branch(s) and provide recommendations and execute operational improvements to methods, systems and procedures that impact SLGA's operations and people.

Job Duties
  • Provide support to accounting functions including, analyzing and overseeing the processing of financial information including, accounts payable, accounts receivable, asset management and vendor support
  • Maintain systems of accounts
  • Critically review financial statements and reports
  • Develop and initiate new accounting processes, procedures and practices
  • Complete risk assessments while designing and conducting information system tests and procedures to evaluate program operations
  • Ensure compliance with internal control procedures
  • Provide accounting advice to branches as well as mentor financial services staff
  • Provide leadership and direction to project teams, corporate programs and/or assigned staff as required
  • Develop and maintain strategic networks and business relationships both internal and external to SLGA in order to foster a positive and productive work environment
  • Manage and provide advice regarding complex and confidential issues with sensitivity and professionalism
  • Development of all budgets, fiscal forecasts and financial reports
  • Responsible for monthly tax filings and periodic Statistics Canada filings.

Required Qualifications
  • A degree in Commerce or Administration with a focus on Accounting or Finance supplemented by three (3) or more years of experience related to budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and/or accounting
  • Professional Accounting Designation, CPA is an asset
  • Knowledge of accounting and financial acts, regulations and policies
  • Knowledge of financial and management accounting principles
  • Knowledge of applicable accounting practices, standards and procedures
  • Knowledge of information systems
