SR & ED Grant Writer

Location: Toronto ON

Purpose: The SR&ED (Scientific Research and Experimental Development) Grant Writer is responsible for securing funding by researching, writing, and submitting comprehensive grant proposals. This role supports innovation and growth by obtaining financial support through SR&ED and other grant opportunities, ensuring that the company's projects and R&D initiatives receive the necessary funding to succeed.

Expected Outcomes:

  • Successfully identify and secure SR&ED and other relevant grants and funding sources.
  • Clear and compelling grant proposals that align with the organization's project goals and methodologies.
  • Timely submission of grant applications and reports to meet deadlines and compliance requirements.
  • Strong relationships with funding providers and stakeholders.
  • Regular updates to internal teams on the status of grant applications and funding trends.
  • Comprehensive budgets and financial reports that meet grant application standards.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Research and identify potential grant opportunities, focusing on SR&ED and other funding sources applicable to the company's needs.
  • Write, edit, and submit grant proposals, ensuring clear articulation of project objectives and research methodologies.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including R&D, finance, and management, to gather relevant data and insights necessary for the grant applications.
  • Maintain a detailed calendar of grant deadlines and reporting requirements to ensure compliance and timely submission.
  • Monitor the status of submitted proposals, providing follow-up communication and updates as necessary.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with fund providers, stakeholders, and external partners.
  • Assist in the preparation of grant-related budgets and financial reports to ensure compliance with financial standards.
  • Stay informed about funding trends, changes to SR&ED policies, and other relevant government or industry initiatives.

Skills and Accomplishments:

  • Proven experience in successfully securing SR&ED funding and other related grants.
  • Demonstrated ability to write clear, persuasive, and well-structured grant proposals.
  • Strong research and analytical skills, with a track record of identifying suitable funding opportunities.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, capable of collaborating across departments and maintaining professional relationships with external stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Communications, Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of grant writing experience, with a strong emphasis on SR&ED program applications.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and research skills.
  • Experience in managing multiple deadlines and working with cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with financial reporting and budgeting in the context of grant applications.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while meeting organizational goals.
