How You Will Make an Impact
The Cook / Housekeeper enhances the dignity and quality of life of our clients through the assumed responsibility for housekeeping and food preparation by ensuring the overall cleanliness and respectful appearance of the facility, maintaining adequate supplies for housekeeping and meal preparation, as well as providing nutritious meals.
Hospitality and availability is aided by providing an environment that is welcoming and hospitable to clients. The incumbent must also be able to demonstrate flexibility in the carrying out of their work in response to client and organizational needs and must be able to adapt to the changing needs of a diversity of clients accessing service.
Responsible for hospitality services including: Cooking/preparing 3X meals a day for up to 75 residents, meal planning, serving meals to residents, cleaning and sanitization of kitchen, and appliances.
Ensure adherence to occupational health and safety regulations, corporate and program policy.
What You'll Bring to Our Team
- High school diploma.
- Previous cooking experience required.
- Residential or commercial kitchen cooking experience is required, menu planning experience is preferred.
- Experience in inventory management is an asset.
- Experience in the food serving industry is an asset.
- Applicants should possess an appreciation and understanding of a range of issues impacting individuals including abuse, poverty, homelessness, mental health and substance use
- Food Handlers certification is an asset
- A demonstrated commitment to the mission values of availability, flexibility, adaptability, hospitality and dignity
