THE ROLE

We are working with one of BCs largest organizations ($2.5Bn+ rev) who are looking to hire a Corporate Development Analyst. No Corp Dev. or M&A experience is necessary but, looking for 4+ years of strong FP&A experience in industry.

The client undertakes 5-10 deals a year with the Corporate Development Analyst being responsible for overseeing the pipeline of deals almost like a project manager, adding structure and defining processes. In a team of 5, the Corporate Development Analyst will report to the Manager of Corporate Development.

The client has experienced a sustained period of growth due to M&A activities and this is an amazing time to join them. They are able to offer a hybrid work model both now and post-pandemic (1-2 days at home per week).

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The ideal candidate will be responsible for using their analytical mindset to analyze and interpret financial data, then relating it to potential business trends and issues.
  • Project management including M&A pipeline monitoring and coordination.
  • Evaluation of new acquisition opportunities, including initial strategic and financial analysis (i.e. preliminary modeling).
  • Carrying the above preliminary analysis forward as deals progress to due diligence, including historical financial analysis and forecast modeling.
  • Post-acquisition financial analysis including look-back analyses to evaluate acquisitions performance relative to plan.
  • There will be some component of FP&A type work, so some exposure to the FP&A team and financial reporting team will be a real asset.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment at a large corporation
  • Bachelors Degree (accounting or business-related). CPA designated (or close to completion)
  • 4+ years of relevant work experience with 2+ years in and FP&A position.
  • Possess advanced modelling and advanced functions for Excel
  • Long-term approach and ability to think ahead and provide future-proof solutions
  • An open and articulate communicator with strong analysis, presentation and written communication skills
  • Capable of working independently while at the same time contributing effectively in a team
  • Ability to perform concurrent tasks / projects, change priorities and reallocate resources as applicable
  • Previous system implementation experience is a plus
