Description of Duties and Authority
Reporting to the Program Supervisor, the Homemaker's major responsibility is to assist the Client Services Supervisor to provide a high-quality service within ILS's policies, procedures, and other operating constraints and obligations. This position will provide homemaking services to promote independent living for clients living in the community. They will work cooperatively and professionally with other healthcare providers and ILS staff members to provide instrumental activities of daily living services to clients, as identified on the client's service plan and directed by the client.
Responsibilities
- Under the supervision of the Program Supervisor, provide instrumental activities of daily living according to:
- Developed Individual Service Plans and as directed by the client.
- Ministry of Health's guidelines and regulations.
- ILS's policies and procedures.
- Protect and promote the welfare, dignity, and individual rights of our clients at all times.
- Perform client home cleaning and disinfecting duties as per daily schedule.
- Work effectively and collaboratively with all levels of ILS Staff to achieve organizational goals, mission, and values.
- Adhere to all of ILS's policies, procedures, and practices.
- Ensure all administration requirements are completed and maintain communications with all internal and external members of the team.
- Contribute to the ongoing care and assessment of clients with the scope of practice.
- Ensure safety protocols and procedures are always adhered to; promote safe work activities by participating in safety initiatives, training, and attending safety meetings, as needed.
- Report all client changes, occurrences, complaints, and/or accidents as soon as possible to management according to approved polices.
- Actively participates in CARF accreditation process; ensures required organizational practices are adhered to and recorded appropriately.
- Ensures clients receive quality service in the manner in which they prefer to maintain their independence in the community according to their individual service plan.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- A High School Diploma, or equivalency GED, or greater, with at least 1 year of relevant experience required.
- Previous housekeeping experience is required.
- Effective communication skills (verbal, written, and active listening).
- Good understanding of chemical and equipment use.
- Demonstrated strong customer service focus and demonstrates knowledge and sensitive to the needs of adults with disabilities and seniors.
- Competent with Microsoft software and other technology.
- Proven ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work in a fast-paced work environment.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
- Strong interpersonal skills, and the proven experience to build trusting relationships within professional boundaries.
- Awareness and respect of cultural diversity of clients.
- High level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability.
- Reliable transportation and valid Ontario driver's license.
- Maintain own auto insurance policy with a minimum of $1,000,000 liability coverage.
- Current, clean criminal record check including vulnerable sector check required.
- Maintain a current First Aid/CPR, class C or HCP level Certification, or greater required.
Working Conditions
- Working with chemicals and cleaning agents.
- Bending, twisting, kneeling, and repetitive movements.
- Extended periods of walking, standing, and/or sitting.
- Working in cluttered areas.
- Working at multiple locations on-site in Barrie and area.
- Fast paced environment.
- Set schedule with varied hours from Monday-Friday
Other Considerations
This is a Permanent Full-Time position. Scheduled time in the Barrie office will be required, as well as some travel within Simcoe County. Access to a reliable vehicle and valid insurance for travel is required.
