We are seeking an Ophthalmic Technician - Medical Scribe to join our team and provide compassionate care to our diverse patient base, including TLC and elderly patients. Please note: applicants who can demonstrate a strong work ethic and the ability to learn quickly are encouraged to apply even if you do not have direct industry experience.
Responsibilities:
- Show empathy and patience when interacting with a variety of personalities, especially TLC and elderly patients.
- Working closely with physicians and colleagues in a team-oriented clinical environment.
- Obtaining ocular and systemic history, including visual acuities, intraocular pressures, assessing pupils, confrontational fields, etc.
- Administering ophthalmic drops.
- Scribing while the physician examines a patient, recording data into an electronic medical record system, and helping with patients' questions/concerns thereafter.
- Assisting with surgical procedures, such as chalazion removal, 3 snip punctoplasty.
- Authorizing medication refills under the supervision of the physician.
- Warmly greet patients in person, on the phone, and via email.
- Perform diagnostic tests, including Visual Fields, OCTs, Auto-Refractions, and more.
- Assist with direct patient care and doctor workups.
- Deliver excellent customer service and foster positive patient experiences.
- Coordinate patient appointments and ensure smooth clinic operations.
- Provide attentive care and service to physicians and patients.
- Tracking patient test results and scheduling follow-up appointments.
- Providing detailed instructions on various tests.
- Collaborate in establishing clinic systems and processes.
Qualifications:
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Fluency in English with effective communication abilities.
- Proficiency in using computers, Google Drive, and communications equipment.
- Ability to assess complex situations, establish priorities, and take appropriate action.
- Independent, flexible, and efficient work ethic.
- Interest in preventative health care and healthy living.
- Experience in ophthalmic procedures and equipment operation preferred.
- Typing speed of 60-65 WPM with 90-95% accuracy.
- Ability to thrive in a high-paced environment and stay on your feet.
