  • Manage resources within a set budget, minimize waste, and follow residence policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a safe working environment.
  • Keep necessary records in the absence of the Food Service Manager, such as menu changes, purchase orders, delivery receipts, and temperature checks.
  • Participate in the FIFO process for food and supply products.
  • Collaborate effectively with all Food Services and other departmental associates.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Possess a current certificate in food handling training from a local health board or equivalent, or training can be provided.
  • Culinary designation/diploma or equivalent designation is an asset.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare or hospitality setting is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with weights, measurements, recipe conversions, and portion control.
  • Knowledge of Ontario Food Premises Regulations, Canada's Food Guide to Healthy Eating, and therapeutic diets.
  • Understanding of Hazardous Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP), Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS), Occupational Health and Safety, and Sanitation Code.
  • Physically and mentally capable of performing assigned duties.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Compassionate understanding of seniors' needs.
  • Must be free of communicable diseases.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Clear vulnerable sector screening (within the last 6 months), recent TB test results (within the last 6 months) or chest X-ray (within the last year), and two supervisory references required.
