Role Summary
The purpose of this role is to drive the success of underground water and sewer projects by leading and motivating your team, contributing to the future of GS construction. You will be responsible for the following:
- Work closely with the Superintendent and Project Manager to coordinate project activities, resolve issues, and drive production.
- Supervise and train crew members, promoting efficient, safe, and effective work practices while following The GS Way process and procedures.
- Ensure all tasks meet safety, quality, and productivity standards through hands-on supervision and proactive issue resolution.
- Take a leadership role in safety by conducting hazard assessments, safety meetings, and regular site inspections, documenting everything per company and OH&S standards.
- Collaborate with the Superintendent, owners, clients, and engineers to interpret contract specifications and address any concerns that arise.
- Track and report daily crew and equipment hours, as well as task and production progress, using field tracking software.
- Oversee key tasks such as installing/benching pour-in-place and pre-benched manholes, laying pipe to grade, and coordinating the installation of valves, hydrants, couplings, and other fittings.
- Keep detailed records of on-site activities, equipment use, and project updates to ensure compliance and facilitate smooth project reporting.
- Perform other duties as needed to support project success.
Qualifications
- Minimum of five years of experience in water and sewer construction, including at least one year as a foreman or lead hand.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, equipment, and materials used in water and sewer projects.
- Ability to read and interpret engineered drawings and specifications.
- Proficient in Microsoft Windows (Word, Excel, and Outlook); general computer literacy is required.
- Current, valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Knowledge of construction safety regulations; certifications like First Aid/CPR, CSTS, and OSSA is an asset.
