Position Summary:

The John Howard Society of Kingston & District is recruiting for a professional and motivated Residential Relief position for overnight awake shifts, weekends, holidays including days, evenings and overnights. The preferred candidate will join a highly motivated team with a track-record of very high achievement and an appetite for change and innovation. We are hiring multiple candidates. This position will be on-call and there is no guarantee of hours.

SALARY:

$21.00/hour days and evenings and $22.00/hour overnight

RESPONSIBILITY AND DUTIES:

1. Ensure all residents understand and comply with the rules of residency
2. Ensure all residents are on property at respective curfew times
3. Complete overnight headcounts/bed checks for all residents on property
4. Complete overnight security check-in calls
5. Monitor internal and external security cameras
6. Provide emergency assistance to new clients arriving from the institution to the community
7. Manage any concerns brought forward by staff and residents and utilize conflict resolution techniques to de-escalate the situation
8. Liaise with the other agencies and community groups, attend community meetings and events relating to criminal justice, reintegration and rehabilitation
9. Collaborate with the team to address any problems or conflicts that may arise
10. Ensure case management database and files are up to date and debrief with staff at shift change
11. Monitor resident's conditions and report breaches to on-call Manager

QUALIFICATIONS:

• College diploma in a Social Services related field
• Work related experience in corrections, residential housing programs, homelessness, addiction and mental health
• Experience with crisis prevention, conflict resolution, motivational and counselling techniques
• Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office suite, databases and the internet
• Familiar with community resources and services
• A valid Full G Ontario drivers' license and reliable personal vehicle
• A satisfactory VSS Criminal Police Check, Enhanced Reliability Clearance (CSC) an asset
• Required to work day, evening and overnight shifts including weekends and statutory holidays
• This is a single staffed facility for males in conflict with the law
