Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia is currently searching for an Information Systems Co-op to join our team in Burnaby for an 8-month co-op term running from January 2025 until August 2025.

The Information Systems Co-op will provide hands-on development skills to build enterprise solutions using the latest Microsoft tools and technologies, including C#, ASP.NET Core MVC, and Entity Framework.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

As an Information Systems Co-op, you will be expected to:

  • Be a passionate and keen team player on our development team with a strong drive to learn hands-on technical development skills to build and integrate enterprise solutions using the latest Microsoft tools and technologies;
  • Have the ability and desire to take what you have recently learned academically and turn it into real world experience utilizing IT “best practices” and agile methodologies to define solutions, design data models, build applications, effectively and securely access data, test and deploy solutions;
  • Work in an environment using a modern DevOps toolchain built around: GIT, Azure DevOps, SonarCloud, and Stackify;
  • All other duties as assigned.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The successful candidate will meet the following requirements:

  • Be enrolled in a 3rd- or 4th-year Engineering or Computer Science undergraduate program;
  • Willing to aggressively learn new skills and have the ability to take initiative;
  • Strong organization, coordination and time management skills combined with a high level of attention to detail;
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills;
  • The ability to work independently;
  • Possess a strong can-do attitude and hands-on approach to deliver superior results;
  • Superior analytical and problem solving skills;
  • Eager and enthusiastic;
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Preferred skills:

  • Programming experience using C# (Java, C, and C++ acceptable) and ASP.NET Core MVC;
  • Exposure to SQL, Relational Databases and data models;
  • Microsoft Visual Studio;
  • HTML, CSS, and Javascript;
  • Exposure to front-end Javascript libraries such as React, Angular, or similar.

This role offers a competitive compensation and benefits program including a salary of $23.50/hour. For contract employees on a short-term contract, we offer:

  • 8% additional pay in lieu of benefits.

  • 10 vacation days per annum (pro-rated based on the length of contract).

  • A flex day program offering additional paid days off (usually alternating Fridays) as a result of a compressed work week.

  • A hybrid work model with an assigned schedule confirming days worked remotely and days worked in-office. This role will be required to work in-office a minimum of 2 days per week during regular business operations.

  • The required tools, equipment, and technology for employees to work remotely are provided.

  • Free parking is available at the office. Transit reimbursement is offered to employees who take transit to work; we are centrally located near bus and Skytrain stops.
