Clinical Case Manager

Location: Kenora

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Under the direction of the Youth Healing Manager, the Clinical Case Manager will provide abuse and trauma related specialized counselling, education and support to individuals, families and the community. The Clinical Case Manager helps clients understand and address substance abuse and related problems, including mental health issues, problem gambling, family dynamics and lifestyle changes. Clinical interventions provided will be designed to remedy, arrest or prevent further social, emotional and or behavioral difficulties for the child in the context of both family and community. The Clinical Case Manager will provide culturally competent practice skills that are congruent to the unique needs of the Grassy Narrows First Nation and KFS.

RESPONSIBILITY:

Reporting directly to the Youth Healing Manager, the Clinical Case Manager will work within a culturally competent system of care and as such will acknowledge and incorporate, at all levels, the importance of culture, the expansion of cultural knowledge, and the overall vision of Kitapinoonjiiminaanik Family Services (KFS).

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Undergraduate degree in Social Services, however, a combination of skills, education and experience may be considered.
  • CPR, Crisis Intervention and Prevention, Suicide Intervention and Prevention skills and training.
  • Thorough knowledge of the KFS service delivery system and policies and procedures of KFS.
  • Knowledge of child/adolescent development and understanding of systems theory/family therapy/play therapy/etc.
  • Ability to translate education/training into effective intervention for clients.
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with children and families, maintain calm and clarity for clients during times of great stress.
  • Experience in assessing client and family problems and needs, and in preparing contemporary / traditional assessment reports and social histories.
  • Prepare referral for treatment and monitor referral through casework with Child Care Worker.
  • Knowledge and experience in traditional and contemporary healing practices and experience in working with Elders, healers and clinicians.
  • Experience and/or commitment to the development of alternative, non-punitive, healing approaches that are derived from traditional Anishinaabe culture.
  • Ability to speak Ojibway is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the administrative structure of Kitapinoonjiiminaanik Family Services, Anishinaabe family structure and the customs and tradition Grassy Narrows First Nation community.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be willing to travel;
  • Must submit a current Vulnerable Sector check and driver's abstract dated within the last 90 days.
