AGS Automotive Systems is a full-service automotive supplier specializing in the manufacture and supply of complex high value-add automotive metal components, including in particular front and rear impact assemblies, principally for pick-ups and the heavy truck market. AGS is looking for an MRO Buyer to join our dynamic organization.

JOB SUMMARY:

The MRO Buyer is responsible for but not limited to: project management of the entire Request for Quote (RFQ) process, including the negotiation and purchase of assigned commodities for a multi-facility operation. The MRO Buyer is also responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of duties and responsibilities as outlined below in accordance with AGS' cultural priorities. The duties and responsibilities described are not a comprehensive list. The scope of the job may change as necessitated by business demands and other considerations.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support each facility's purchasing requirements through:
    • Developing and issuing RFQ packages
    • Negotiation and award of contracts
  • Comprehensive Analysis of Vendors in order to determine final recommendation, which is to be based on sound decision-making that aligns with the project scope and facility needs
  • Independently prepare and orally present final recommendation to Senior Management and Ownership
  • Mediate all disputes between suppliers and A.G. Simpson plants and/or accounts payable.
  • Expedite material deliveries when exhausted all other options as required
  • Daily interaction with plants to assess and respond to urgent requirements
  • Ensures that the organization's procurement policies are adhered to
  • Develop and seek out diversity suppliers to support our on-going customer targets
  • Develop new sources of supply and maintain a good working relationship with existing suppliers
  • Determine areas for process improvement and develop implementation plans
  • Keep abreast of market trends, new products and technologies, and any issues that will affect price or capacity
  • Support efforts related to successful launch of new products or projects

EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of five years experience, preferably supporting industrial plant requirements
  • Diploma in Supply Chain Management would be an asset or equivalent work experience.
  • Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Experience with the negotiation of MRO parts and services is an asset (i.e. Press Repairs & parts, pneumatic items, toners, office supplies, etc.)
  • Strategic Vendor sourcing experience is an asset
  • Working knowledge of QAD is an asset

  • Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Required travel to our Michigan facilities; Valid passport required.
  • Personal vehicle is required as the role will occasionally require visiting local vendors and plant facilities.
