The Sales & Event Intern at MRG plays a pivotal role in supporting the coordination and execution of events while gaining valuable experience in sales and client relations. This position involves assisting with event logistics, such as venue selection, catering arrangements, and client communication. The intern will also support the sales team by researching leads, preparing proposals, and ensuring client satisfaction. This hands-on role offers a unique opportunity to learn about event planning and sales strategies in a dynamic and creative environment, under the guidance of The Sales & Event Manager.
ABOUT OUR INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

The MRG Group Internship Program is designed to provide you with practical skills, valuable experiences, and exposure to real-world scenarios in the Experience industry.

The program is structured to ensure that 80% of your time is dedicated to performing activities specific to their role, while the remaining 20% is allocated to job shadowing, skill development, and team projects across various businesses within the MRG Group.
ABOUT THE MRG GROUP

The MRG Group is a leader in experience creation. In operation since 2008, The MRG Group has grown to become Canada's largest independent entertainment company, and through its ownership of 10 hospitality properties and 6 venues across Canada, the business is passionate about providing positive shareable experiences for its guests, 500+ employees, and partners.

In addition, The MRG Group owns and operates an events business, travel company, digital publication, and ticketing service Admit One. In 2021, the business expanded its presence into the US, signing its first venue deals with properties in New York and California later that year.

Key Responsibilities

  • Event Coordination: Assist in planning and coordinating logistics for events, including venue selection, catering arrangements, decor setup, and entertainment bookings.
  • Client Communication: Communicate effectively with clients to understand their event requirements, provide updates on progress, and ensure their expectations are met or exceeded.
  • Sales Support: Aid the sales team in lead generation, prospect research, and preparation of proposals and presentations to potential clients.
  • Administrative Tasks: Provide administrative support such as maintaining databases, preparing documents, handling inquiries, and managing event timelines.
  • Event Execution: Assist in onsite event management, including setup, coordination of event schedules, and handling any issues or last-minute adjustments as they arise.
  • Research and Analysis: Conduct market research and analysis to identify trends, potential new clients, and opportunities for business growth within the events industry.
  • Promotion: Help with the creation and distribution of event promotional materials to drive the business in the community.

Goals

  • 1 Monthly Networking Event with the Sales Team
  • Source new leads with proper contact info (new email addresses/phone numbers)
  • 25 Weekly Outbound Emails
  • 5 Weekly Outbound calls
  • Continue to provide ideas surrounding outbound initiatives

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Strong Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks and details simultaneously, ensuring events and sales processes run smoothly and efficiently.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Clear and effective communication with clients, team members, and vendors is essential for understanding needs, conveying information, and resolving issues.
  • Attention to Detail: Precision in planning events and preparing sales materials, with a keen eye for detail to ensure accuracy and professionalism in all aspects of the role.
  • Sales Aptitude: Basic understanding of sales principles and a willingness to learn and apply sales techniques, including lead generation, client relationship management, and proposal preparation. This includes being proactive in identifying potential clients and opportunities for business development.
