The Opportunity:
We're looking for a LOA & Benefit Specialist to join our Total Rewards team for 12 months.
Reporting to the Manager, Total Rewards the LOA & Benefit Specialist is responsible for providing guidance on and administrating Leave of Absence and Benefits programs. In addition, 30% of this role be allocated to supporting the payroll team in running payroll operations.
The position will work closely with HR, TR, Payroll and external vendors to ensure a seamless employee experience and accurate processing of LOA, benefit and payroll activities.

What your day looks like:
- Administer all aspects of the LOA process including STD, LTD, Maternal, Parental and other statutory leave programs
- Provide guidance and support to employees, managers and HR team regarding leave policies, eligibility and process requirements
- Act as the first point of contact for all benefit and LOA matters and respond to inquiries from employees and internal departments in a prompt, courteous and efficient manner
- Partner with HRBPs and 3rd party benefit provider and partners to assess and resolve LOA and benefit related issues
- Create and maintain a tracker of all LOA cases within Aviso. Document leave requests, approvals and return-to-work process and collaborate with the HR team in updating the records in workday
- Coordinate all leave-related communications with employees, managers, HRBPs and external vendors
- Support payroll team with manual Over-Time calculation for eligible employees across all provinces
- Review and reconcile 3rd party benefit billings to ensure accuracy
- Understand and monitor any changes in relevant legislation for all provinces across Canada, including Quebec
- Conduct audits of LOA and benefits programs to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with company policies and legislative requirements
- Provide supports to Total Rewards and Payroll & Benefits teams on any other tasks or special projects as required
Requirements
Your experience and skills:
- Bachelor's degree is Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field
- 5-7 years administrative experience in payroll, benefits and leave of absence management or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Completion of CPA Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) Certification would be an asset
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively support employees at all levels
- Working knowledge of all required legislation including ESA
- Intermediate level working knowledge of Word and Excel
- Workday experience is preferred
- Extremely detail oriented, accurate, motivated and deadline driven
- Ability to work calmly and effectively in a fast-paced environment and exercise substantial discretion with highly sensitive and confidential information
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Fluent communication skills in English are required and bilingual skills in French would be preferred

Salary
This position is posted with an expected salary range of $77,000 - $95,000 CAD annually. Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate and the requirements of the position.
