Job Description

As a Product Designer, you'll become a catalyst for creative thinking and problem-solving within the product design team. Your unwavering drive and curiosity to understand what makes our end-users tick will inform and drive your design work. Your responsibilities will fall under four main pillars:

Deep Understanding of Assent

  • Develop a deep understanding of users' needs and goals, aiming to be a recognized expert for your product team.

  • Develop a strong understanding of the suite of products and experiences at Assent.

  • Understand the various dimensions of Assent, from marketing, sales, and finance, to professional services consulting, legal, and regulatory.

Research & Evaluation

  • Drive and lead research initiatives, pushing for more user focus for your team, and organizing research and data-gathering.

  • Validate and evaluate design decisions through usability evaluations.

  • Plan, measure, and track the user experience across our products and our services.

Mentorship & Motivation

  • Energize the product design team with your expertise and passion.

  • Foster collaboration within and across a diverse group of cross-functional stakeholders.

  • Advocate intensely for our end-users, framing their needs and challenges in ways that help build a shared understanding across teams.

  • Inspire design innovation by continuously researching and sharing design best practices.

Complexity Simplification & Design Vision

  • Define and improve the styling and experience of our product set.

  • Lead difficult or sensitive work, making sense of deeply complex problems and cutting through to simple solutions.

  • Contribute to setting the design direction, using a well-grounded understanding of the business, user needs, and design principles.

Qualifications
  • 5 or more years of experience designing applications and experiences across a variety of platforms.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to digest and comprehend complex systems and iterate on ways to improve them.

  • Highly skilled in creating high-fidelity, interactive prototypes for complex designs.

  • Proven ability to handle unexpected design challenges during the shipping phase.

  • Excellent communication skills, with an ability to manage difficult conversations, provide valuable feedback, and resolve conflicts to maintain team harmony.

  • Proven leadership skills, promoting a supportive culture, and putting the team's goals first.

  • A strong advocate for the user, with experience conducting and analyzing various forms of research.

  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high-growth tech environment.

It all begins when Assent's Talent Acquisition team contacts you for an introductory call. Beyond that, you can expect:

  • An interview with the product design team's manager. The focus will be on your professional journey and how much you connect with the role's requirements.

  • A group interview with the entire design team and some key members of the product management and engineering teams. You will present a portfolio case study or a UX/UI/Research topic you're passionate about.
