We are looking for a Construction Estimator with experience to join our team.
Our ideal team member is self motivated, takes pride in their work and has a true appreciation for the finished product.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Prepare estimates and bid submissions for commercial construction
- Prepare estimates for labour, material and equipment costs using quantity take-off procedures
- Communicate and liaise with accounting, construction team and president
- Coordinate and consult with engineers, architects, contractors etc.
- Organize and prepare project start-ups
- Assist the Project Manager to organize the logistics behind construction projects in accordance with the schedule and budget
- Handle contracts and revise any additional changes in contractual agreements with architects, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors
- Monitor progress and ensure a high standard of accuracy and quality with projects
- Direct the purchase of building materials for the appropriate projects.
- Represent the company in business-related matters, including meetings, services, or contract negotiations
Qualifications and Skills:
- Minimum 2 years experience in commercial construction estimating required
- Extensive knowledge in the construction industry required
- Post-secondary, technical education (BCIT) or similar in construction, project management, or a related industry
- Experience in job costing, job tracking and job purchasing
- Experienced in blue print reading and takeoffs
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word Excel, etc.)
- Experience in Sage 100 considered an asset
- Familiar with BC Building Code is preference
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to organize and manage time efficiently
- Strong attention to detail
- Problem-solving and analytical skills are an asset
