We are on the lookout for a Team Lead, Transportation in Ottawa, who shares our passion for being Customer Obsessed. In this dynamic role, you will play a crucial part in being responsible for overseeing daily warehouse operations, ensuring efficient and effective receipt, storage, and dispatch of a wide range of goods. This role involves leading a team of warehouse associates, coordinating activities, and maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and productivity. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a background in logistics or warehouse management, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

This position is Part Time, Friday to Monday 5:30am to 10:30am.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Staging and sorting of items, palletizing, and crating;
  • Provide regular reports on transportation performance and key metrics (SLAs) to the operations leadership,
  • Use of tools including but not limited to scanners, carts, hand trucks and dollies;
  • Daily submission and completion of all required documentation in an accurate fashion;
  • Follow all 5S processes consistently and effectively;
  • Create an inspiring team environment with an open communication culture;
  • Train new employees on company standards and procedures;
  • Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of warehouse associates;
  • Assign tasks and responsibilities, ensuring efficient workflow and productivity;
  • Conduct regular team meetings to communicate goals, updates, and feedback;
  • Implement and maintain warehouse processes and procedures to maximize efficiency;
  • Enforce safety standards and protocols to ensure a safe working environment;
  • Address and resolve any issues related to damaged or missing goods;
  • Liaise with other departments, such as procurement, account management, and customer service, to coordinate activities and resolve issues;
  • Communicate effectively with team members, management, and external partners.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or related field preferred;
  • Proven experience in a warehouse or logistics role, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or team lead position;
  • Strong leadership and team management skills;
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities;
  • Proficient in warehouse management software and the Google Suite;
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in warehouse operations;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry heavy items (up to 50 lbs);
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking;
