We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Accounts Payable Accountant to join our exciting organization! This role is responsible for accurately and efficiently processing and managing the company's accounts payable transactions. As a key member of our team, you will report to the Accounts Payable Supervisor, ensuring timely payments to vendors, maintaining organized financial records, reconciling discrepancies, and supporting in the daily operations of the A/P function. You will work closely with internal teams and external vendors to resolve inquiries, ensuring compliance with accounting practices and company policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform accounts payable functions, including coding, totaling, batching, entering, and verifying invoices.
  • Process and enter invoices for assigned projects, verifying approvals, and ensuring timely payments.
  • Maintain vendor records, set up new vendor accounts in the system, and ensure accurate and timely payment to vendors.
  • Review and reconcile vendor statements, purchase orders, and accounts payable transactions.
  • Manage PO trackers.
  • Handle vendor-related issues, including inquiries, discrepancies, and payment processing.
  • Assist in preparing month-end closing reports for A/P-related activities.
  • Assist with reconciliation of company credit card statements and ensure proper documentation.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders, respond promptly to inquiries regarding payment status, and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Participate in audit preparation and support.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives within the A/P department.
  • Generate and review A/P reports for management as required.
  • Stay current with accounts payable regulations, standards, and best practices.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Diploma or certification in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.
  • 2-3 years of experience in an accounts payable or accounting role.
  • Knowledge of accounts payable procedures, accounting rules, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and experience with ERP systems (e.g., Spectrum).
  • Ability to handle high volumes of data entry with precision and attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of general ledger accounting and the month-end close process is an asset.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a logical approach to work.

Salary Range: $55,000 - $62,000
