The Opportunity
As a Childminding/Youth Leader, you will join our dedicated Health, Membership, and Recreation team; where your focus will be on enhancing the physical, mental, and social well-being of children and youth in our community. In your role, you will build relationships with children and their families in order to establish a welcoming, safe, and engaging environment for young people to thrive. This is a casual position that reports to the Recreation Supervisor and requires flexible work hours, including days, evenings and weekends.
Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and lead sports and youth programs.
- Develop inclusive and adaptive programming.
- Set-up and supervise Drop-in/Scheduled Sports Programs and maintain a safe environment.
- Manage scheduling, sign-ins, and administrative tasks.
- Act as a coach, teammate and mentor to participating youth & Families.
- Encourage and engage youth to participate in discussions, planning and facilitation of Youth Programs,
- Demonstrate a commitment to children's learning and is responsive to research.
- Effectively plan, organize and supervise daily childminding programming and activities.
- Track participant attendance and ensure a welcoming atmosphere.
- Maintain safety and adhere to YMCA policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- High School or Post-Secondary Education.
- Experience working with children; Sport and Youth Programs an asset
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Employment is contingent on having a clean Criminal Record Check.
