Who we are:
Crowfoot Village Family Practice (CVFP) is an innovative team that cares for more than 24,000 new-born to geriatric patients from Calgary and the surrounding area. Our team includes physicians, a nurse practitioner, registered nurses, pharmacists, a health management nurse, respiratory educators, a behavioral health consultant, medical office assistants and administrative assistants.
Our hours of operation are Monday – Friday 8:00 – 5:00pm.
We are looking to hire full time, part time, and casual medical office assistants. This role would also be suitable for recent university grads, or current university students.
The Job:
- Acting as first point of contact for patients and visitors, welcomes and greets them in person or on the telephone
- Directing incoming calls received on a multi-line phone system
- Setting up and confirming doctor and referral appointments
- Faxing, scanning, filing of labs and documents in Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
- Maintain and update patient information on the EMR
- Protecting patient's rights by maintaining highest level of confidentiality of health information
- Maintaining operations by following policies and procedures, reporting needed changes and maintenance of templates
- Providing support for ad-hoc projects

Qualifications
- Education: Medical office diploma or certificate preferred but not required
- Alternatively a university degree (completed or in process) in a health related field
- Ideal: 2-5 years' experience in a medical office setting
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Knowledge and experience with electronic medical records
- Experience in family medicine an asset
- Familiarity with medical clinic software, internet, Microsoft software (Word, Outlook, Excel), minimum typing speed of 40 wpm
