Superintendent Job Description:
Our client, a female-led Indigenous business at the forefront of the modular construction industry, is co-creating innovative, resilient housing and childcare solutions with Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities.
They are seeking a skilled Superintendent to manage and oversee on-site construction activities. The Superintendent will ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards. This is a critical role requiring a strong leader who can effectively coordinate with subcontractors, clients, and internal teams to achieve successful project completion.
Key Responsibilities:On-Site Leadership: Manage day-to-day operations on the construction site, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgets, and specifications.
Subcontractor Coordination: Supervise and coordinate the work of subcontractors, ensuring high-quality workmanship and compliance with safety regulations.
Quality Control: Oversee the quality of work performed, inspecting work for compliance with plans, specifications, and standards. Address any issues promptly to avoid delays or rework.
Safety Management: Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols, ensuring a safe work environment for all personnel. Conduct regular safety meetings and inspections.
Scheduling & Planning: Develop and maintain detailed project schedules. Coordinate all on-site construction activities, ensuring that work progresses efficiently and deadlines are met.
Problem-Solving: Quickly and effectively resolve any issues that arise on-site, such as scheduling conflicts, design discrepancies, or material shortages.
Client Communication: Maintain strong communication with the client throughout the project, providing regular updates on progress and addressing any concerns.
Documentation & Reporting: Prepare and maintain all necessary project documentation, including daily reports, safety logs, and change orders. Ensure accurate records are kept for all site activities.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Construction Superintendent, with a focus on residential, multi-family, or modular construction.
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, codes, regulations, and safety protocols.
- Proven ability to manage multiple subcontractors and trades on-site.
- Experience working with Indigenous communities is highly valued.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to interpret and understand construction drawings and specifications.
- A proven track record of completing projects on time, within budget, and to high-quality standards.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and project management software.
- Valid driver's license and eligibility to work in Canada.
