Position: Process Engineer Reports to: Director, Projects

We are looking for a Process Engineer to join our Projects team! The Process Engineer will play a key role in optimizing and improving our food manufacturing processes within the Sprouted and Gluten Free bakery. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in process engineering within the food industry, with a proven ability to implement process improvements and drive operational excellence.

Opportunities

The Process Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to make process improvements on our bread lines. The position will also be responsible for working with different areas on establishing appropriate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and equipment specifications, including but not limited to equipment setup, operation, sanitation, ensuring the info is readily available for the applicable business partners and training is provided for users.

Skills & experience

  • You have 5-7 years of relevant industry experience, preferably in food manufacturing
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Food Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • Strong knowledge of food manufacturing processes, equipment, and quality standards
  • Proven experience with process optimization, data analysis, and project management

Responsibilities

  • Become completely familiar with the equipment and the processes of the Sprouted and Gluten Free bakeries and find solutions to bottlenecks, and inefficiencies.
  • Work with Plant Management to provide technical support for process-related issues, troubleshoot problems, and implement corrective actions to minimize production downtime and ensure consistent product quality through process optimization
  • Lead and/or participate in projects related to process improvements, equipment upgrades, and new product introductions. Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets, and ensure timely and successful project execution.
  • Write SOPs for each piece of equipment and each process on the line.
  • Work closely with R&D, production, and maintenance teams to ensure smooth integration of new technologies and processes.
  • Provide training and technical support to plants to ensure that our bakeries align with the most optimal process flow and equipment plans
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to production efficiency, product quality, and process reliability, and make data-driven recommendations for improvement.
  • Monitor the above systems to detect and correct inefficiencies before they escalate
  • Conduct time studies and workflow analysis to identify production bottlenecks.
  • Use data-driven methods to pinpoint inefficiencies in the production line, including equipment, labor, and process issues.
  • Develop and implement process improvements to eliminate bottlenecks, such as adjusting production sequences, modifying equipment setups, or reorganizing workflow.
  • Work closely with the maintenance teams to identify and address recurring equipment issues that cause delays
  • Optimize machine settings, calibrations, and preventive maintenance schedules to ensure consistent, efficient operation and reduce unexpected downtimes.
  • Identify areas where raw materials are being wasted or yield losses are occurring and recommend/implement solutions to minimize waste.
  • Lead regular meetings with key stakeholders to review performance, discuss challenges, and develop action plans for improvement.

  • May on occasion work evenings and weekends to accommodate production testing

Salary - 95,000 - 118,000
