The Opportunity

We are looking to hire a Landscape/Plow Lead Hand on a Permanent Full-time basis with availability to work some days and some nights, depending on the scheduled requirements. Typical night shifts will be 5-8 shifts per month in winter. Spring will be night shifts from about May 1 - June 15th. June 16 - October 31 is day shifts.

Reporting to the Plow/Construction Manager, the Lead Hand will primarily oversee the day-to-day service delivery activities to meet customer requirements. The Lead Hand will assist the Plow/Construction Manager in communicating daily and weekly operations to ensure services are completed in a timely manner and meet all quality and safety standards. This is a hands-on position; thus, you will be in the field mowing, trimming and laboring, as well as training and coaching field staff. You are required to operate a Skid Steer and Loader with competence, having 100 plus hours on both. You should have a high level of trailer proficiency. You should have at least two years of experience directly in the Landscape Maintenance/ Snow Removal industry. You should also be handy in various construction settings, with an eye for detail. Being a people-person, you should be capable and competent to train others.

Together with your manager, you are responsible for ensuring we fulfill the PPS customer value commitment to “Be the Best” by working safely, conveying professionalism, and providing high-quality workmanship.

Requirements

  • 100 plus hours on a Skid Steer and Loader.
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers License with driving experience of at least 3 years.
  • Provide a Driver's Abstract with no serious infractions
  • Experience driving with a trailer
  • The job requires the ability to work with hand tools, small engine equipment, and materials
  • Must have a reliable smartphone and be able to use the company app to follow and complete scheduled work.
  • Must have experience training staff.
  • Must be reliable. Must be able to show up to work every day on time.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. repeatedly through an entire work shift
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and complete work in a given timeframe.
  • Requires good manual dexterity
  • Excellent stamina is required
  • Work near heavy equipment and other vehicles on a regular basis
  • Work outdoors in various conditions, including heat and humidity, rain, dust, noise, and cold
  • Flexible working hours and occasional weekend work
  • Reliable transportation to and from work is required.
  • Language: You must be fluent in English.

  • Must wear Steel Toe Boots at all times.
