Job Title: Electrical/ Instrumentation Estimator
Job Summary: The Estimator who will be responsible for the effective preparation of detailed estimates for; Commercial, institutional and Industrial Projects. This includes responsibility in estimating major projects and contributing significantly to marketing the company and its services.
Scope of Responsibilities:
  • Preparing estimates for major projects based on preliminary sketches, specifications, and other related information; preparing accurate cost estimates of resources required for tendered projects; contacting and receiving quotations from suppliers and trades; and preparing spreadsheets with supplier information and quotes.
  • Prepares and writes proposal, quotes and bid forms or submissions as required.
  • Works to define battery limits for the scope of work between self-performed work and subcontractors.
  • Analyzing tender documents and contractual obligations for projects.
  • Analyzes quotes from sub-contractors and evaluates the best option.
  • Assesses drawings and specifications, while making innovative solutions to complex construction challenges.
  • Builds relationships with internal and external clients, vendors and suppliers.
  • Responsible to adhere to the safety and quality standards for each job.
  • Works to handover and support successful bids to the project/construction team.
  • Provides coverage for Project Coordinator / Project Manager or other Roles as required.
  • All other duties as assigned by the Estimating Manager and/or Vice President.
Qualifications:
  • 5-10 Years' Experience as an estimator for multi-discipline industrial construction/mining projects
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering is preferred
  • Trade experience will be considered
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Experience with Proposal or Technical Writing an Asset.
  • Knowledge of Code Requirements.

Tron Job Description
  • Knowledge of Estimating Methods and Metrics, (RS Means, NECA, John S Page)
  • Knowledge of Estimating Software an asset ( Accubid, McCormack)
  • Experience Construction Schedules, Microsoft Project, or P6 Primavera.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills to prepare estimates and analyze cost reports.
  • Previous industrial or commercial site and project experience is considered a strong asset.
  • Effective verbal and listening skills. & Strong time management skills.
Working Environment:
  • Work is performed promarilyin an office setting, with Remote Work as an option. Some travel to site may be required.
