In your job as Mechanical Designer, you are responsible for the design and prototyping of our next generation of modular robots that can easily allow attachments to be switched-out for various work applications. You really enjoy designing mechanical items, from the modeling stage right through to the physical assembly and testing stage. You are tech-savvy and get excited about rapid, hands-on prototyping.

Job Responsibilities:

• Layout needs requirements
• Create virtual models using 3D CAD (Solidworks)
• Decide on Bills Of Materials (BOMs)
• Order components
• Help assemble prototypes
• Conduct real-life testing to the point that your design is ready for real-world use by customers
• Continuous improvement of reliability of robot, peripherals & attachments
• Work with the Operations to determine how designs can be improved & optimized based on real-life operations

Required Skills/Experience:

• Previous experience with SolidWorks or Inventor
• Experience working in a shop setting or on personal shop projects
• Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field

Nice to Haves:

• Previous experience working at a startup or small company
• Previous robotics or automation experience is an asset
