About the role:
As a Canadian Tax Manager at DMCL, you'll have the opportunity to take the next step in your career by leading high-impact tax planning and compliance projects for a diverse range of clients. How you'll make a difference:
- Assist in the development and implementation of tax planning strategies for clients;
- Advise on planning opportunities, tax minimization strategies and compliance issues;
- Identify, research and develop solutions for a wide variety of tax issues;
- Review and advise on complex corporate, personal and trust tax returns;
- Review the work of other team members, train, develop and mentor members of the tax group;
- Manage a book of clients by being a key client contact/resource and manage all engagement related matters;
- Begin developing advanced tax and industry knowledge and sharing that knowledge with clients and colleagues;
- Assist in the research for, implementation, planning and filings for transactions undertaken by our clients; including business dispositions/acquisitions, tax reorganizations, estate planning etc;
- Assist with client management and foster excellent relationships with clients and initiate business development opportunities.
Who you are:
- Qualified CPA with tax experience in a CPA accounting firm
- Completion or ongoing completion of the In-Depth Tax Program
- Experience in a wide variety of tax fields, particularly for private enterprise clients, including corporate reorganizations, business/asset dispositions, estate planning, and compensation strategies
- Strong technical and research skills, with the ability to adapt tax strategies to unique circumstances
- Demonstrated tax planning experience with owner-managed businesses
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with a strong focus on client service and the ability to provide practical advice
- Ability to build positive relationships with staff and demonstrate emerging leadership skills
- Superior organizational and analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
