Summary:
The Shipping Clerk is responsible for maintenance of shipping records and distribution operations. Incumbent is to ensure complete orders are shipped in a timely manner and records of shipment is on file.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Verify load capacity of trailers and authority of trucks to match shipping records;
· Verify inventory shipped vs. inventory being produced;
· Match received loading sheets to orders and provide to dispatch;
· Release orders to process gatekeepers, manifests and bills of lading;
· Ensure compliance to legal regulations and company policies;
· Prepare and print shipping labels corresponding to shipping needs;
· Track inventory and report any shortages to sales team to update records;
· Report to management on activities and issues;
· Performs other duties as required to support Shipping Department.
Qualifications:
· High School Diploma or equivalent
· Supply Chain, Logistics or relative field is a plus
· 3-4 years general shipping experience
· Solid knowledge of logistics procedures, shipping and receiving procedures
· Comfortable with paper work and information systems
· Experience in preparing shipping documents (e.g. ASN)
· Computer savvy with excellent knowledge of MS Office (especially Excel)
· Open to change and willing to learn new skills
· Ability to stay organized in a fast paced dynamic environment
· Ability to follow up on pending issues
· Ability to meet deadlines
· Excellent organizational and communication skills
· Attention to detail
· Problem-solving abilities
