Job Description

The Advance Practice Coordinator reports to the corporate clerical manager of the Diagnostic Imaging Department. The role requires extensive consultation with radiologists/nuclear physicians and referring physicians (i.e. emergency and clinical nurse specialist) using a teamwork approach to enhance imaging services.

Accountabilities:

  • Prescribe appropriate protocols within the approved delegated act procedures
  • Protocolling CT referrals within the approved delegated act using orders sets for CT
  • Plays a pivotal role in the provision of appropriate patient preparation for requested imaging exams
  • Using clinical expertise, leadership and understanding of the organization, medical directives and decision-making to improve access and quality of care
  • Provide professional guidance to other health care professionals and participate as a member of the interdisciplinary teams both inside the Diagnostic Imaging Department as well as with the inpatient programs who utilize diagnostic imaging services for their patients
  • Collaborates with patients, health care professionals and physicians
  • Improve productivity, increase patient access to radiologic services and enhance overall quality of patient care in diagnostic imaging
  • Ensure effective and efficient patient flow and care; including but not inclusive are triaging a medical imaging pathway for Emergency Department patients and inpatients
  • Preliminary liaison (first point of contact) with physicians from the community to provide support and determine if physician requires a consultation with the radiologist/nuclear physician
  • Working with inpatient programs and other team member to resolve issues, triage and schedule inpatient referrals and expedite patient transportation
Qualifications
  • Must have a professional designation in one of the imaging professions
  • CT experience is preferred
  • Minimum of five years recent relevant clinical experience in diagnostic imaging
  • Ability to implement and evaluate planned change
  • Ability to define specific areas of practice and evaluate the needs of the department
  • Ability to lead a team, transfer knowledge, coach and mentor others
  • Ability to self-direct, interact and adapt effectively with other professionals in complex, dynamic situations
  • Demonstrates clinical leadership, advanced judgment and a high level of knowledge, skills, ability and personal attributes as well as professional autonomy
  • Must possess ability to document with accuracy and detail
  • May be required to travel between and work at all Osler sites
  • Excellent attendance, punctuality and work record required
  • MRI experience an asset

Additional Information

Hours: Currently Days/Evenings, 8 hours, including weekends and statutory holidays (subject to change in accordance with operational requirements)

SALARY:
Minimum: $42.25
Maximum: $53.28
