SUMMARY
The millwright is responsible for ensuring the plant and equipment are running in a safe and effective manner with the goal of keeping downtime to a minimum by trouble shooting mechanical problems and replacing or repairing defective machinery as soon as possible.
The millwright, reporting to the Plant Manager, will support company objectives and environmental standards.
EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS
- Ensure equipment is properly maintained to meet quality, productivity, and reliability expectations.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose machinery breakdowns.
- Conduct periodic inspections, completing preventative maintenance requirements, identifying and repairing or replacing faulty or suspect parts.
- Identify opportunities for safety, quality, and reliability improvements.
- Communicate improvements to management with an action plan for implementation
- Perform tasks delegated by management.
- Maintain a clean and organized maintenance shop.
- Attend and actively participate in production and safety meetings.
Requirements
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Technical
- Red Seal endorsement is required.
- Minimum two years' maintenance experience is required.
- Ability to work closely with other trades and employees.
- Planer experience is an asset.
- Lumber manufacturing or wood preserving experience is desirable.
Personal
- Attention to detail.
- Problem solving abilities and mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to think creatively and solve problems.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
Other Requirements
- Competent with Word and Excel.
- Must have own CSA approved steel-toed boots.
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds or 23 kilograms.
- Able to perform duties such as bending, lifting, and reaching during the course of shift.
- Must be able to speak, read, and write English.
- Demonstrated good written and oral communication skills.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Some of the equipment and machinery are located outside of buildings. This requires the ability of the millwright to work in cold weather conditions

EDUCATION
- High school graduation
- Millwright certification required
- Post-secondary education in engineering or industrial maintenance is an asset

HOURS OF WORK
- Typically, Monday through Friday starting at 7:00 am
Note - Hours may change due to operational requirements and occasional weekends may be required.
