Job Title: High-Risk Youth Worker
Reports To: Supervisor
Job Summary
The Good Life Reunification Homes is currently seeking experienced Youth Workers who will be the primary caregiver for the aging out group 18-24 years old. Under the general direction of the Supervisor/Manager, the high-risk youth worker will provide support for the youth with in-home assistance, participate in the development of in-home intervention strategies, and be responsible for supervising the safety and well-being of the aging out youth in the home, while on shift.
General Accountabilities
Responsibilities
- Working collaboratively with the youth and assisting them with their educational needs such as homework, day programming when person (s) served is not in school and parent-teacher interviews.
- Supervise the youth to maintain a safe and secure environment by following the Policy Manual. These guidelines will eliminate the youth leaving without permission.
- Administer medication, and first aid according to prescribed procedures.
- Encourage healthy living skills, by attending to the maintenance of the home, while teaching and modelling household living skills.
- Working towards early intervention and preventive measures and assessing on-going risk for youth and safety plan accordingly.
- Working closely with child and family services team members and others to provide services for the youth involved with The Good Life Reunification Home Program as identified in service plans.
- Able to resolve conflict situations, using Preventive, and De-escalation measures.
- Interacts and engages with the person (s) served by supporting their emotional, physical, and social development.
- Ensures that Daily Reports are completed for the assigned person (s) served.
- Ensure that Daily Vehicle Inspections are completed and Record keeping for daily fuel logs.
- Transporting youth to programs, (when not in school), medical appointments, social outings, and weekly grocery shopping.
- Transporting and assisting youth to school, until bussing Transport is arranged.
Education Qualifications
- Education: 1 years' Experience with working in a human services field. Certificate or Diploma in Child & Youth Care, Family Support Community worker, Social Work diploma, or combination of education, training, and experience will be considered, dependent on reference checks.
- Current Criminal Record Check, current Vulnerable Sector Check and Child Intervention check.
- Knowledge in the areas of Addiction, Mental Health, Trauma Informed and Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training. (ASIST) and FASD training.
- Experience with the Child and Family Services sector and legislation.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, MS Word, excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Clean Drivers Abstract- 3 years.
- Class 5 Valid driver's license
- Standard First Aid Training
