THE ROLE

We are working with a client who is a well-known leader in real estate and business law including construction, insurance, infrastructure, and commercial litigation. Our client operates nationwide, and we are currently we are looking for anICBC Paralegal (Mat Leave Coverage)for their location inVancouver.

Responsibilities:

Efficiently manage files from start to finish, enabling lawyers to settle or litigate cases.

Review, analyze, and summarize material damage documents, witness statements, medical records, and financial documents, providing the team (lawyers, paralegals, and LAAs) with concise memos.

Conduct cyber and social media searches.

Manage cases and documents, offering recommendations on third-party notices, counterclaims, and more.

Assess files for potential experts related to liability, medical issues, and wage loss determinations.

Draft applications, trial documents, discovery outlines, and questions.

Thoroughly review plaintiff discovery transcripts to identify potential witnesses or additional evidence.

Track and process billing hours accurately.

Review expert reports from plaintiff counsel concerning pre- and post-accident functions, making recommendations for further evaluations and treatments.

Requirements:

Certificate of completion from an accredited paralegal certification program or an associate degree in paralegal studies.

Paralegal experience and/or broader experience in litigation.

Capable of effectively multitasking and managing time-sensitive documents while demonstrating exceptional organizational skills in a fast-paced environment.

Skilled in collaborating within a team setting.

Able to communicate openly, provide progress updates, and engage with team members.

Proficient in managing competing deadlines, prioritizing tasks, and following through on implementation.

Strong attention to detail.

Efficient in completing tasks.

Capable of thinking critically and synthesizing information to draw conclusions.

Open to receiving feedback and implementing necessary changes in daily work practices.
