Job Title: Financial Controller

Annual Salary: $46 per hour
Schedule: 40 hours, Monday – Friday

Key Responsibilities
As Financial Controller, you will oversee and lead the financial operations of Terra Archaeology, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and strategic alignment. Your responsibilities will include:
- Supervising and engaging in full-cycle accounting processes (journal entries, accounts payable, invoicing, collections, bank reconciliations, payroll, account reconciliations, and remittances).
- Issuing monthly financial statements and preparing project reports to inform stakeholders.
- Preparing year-end working papers for external accountants and auditors.
- Managing and maintaining the project database to ensure data completeness and accuracy.
- Supervising, coaching, and evaluating the performance of finance team members.
- Developing and enhancing standard operating procedures across finance operations.
- Conducting regular information sessions to foster a company-wide understanding of finance policies and procedures.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders for efficient day-to-day operations.
- Supporting the Chief Financial Officer with profitability analysis, KPI development, budget planning, and systems improvement initiatives.
Qualifications and Skills
To thrive in this role, you should bring:
- A bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in a similar role within a reputable organization.
- Strong financial acumen and analytical skills with a record of driving business results.
- In-depth knowledge of financial regulations, accounting principles, and BC/Canadian tax laws.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and guide a team.
- Demonstrated experience in strategic financial planning and decision support.
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing business needs.
- Proficiency in payroll, project management, Sage ERP software, and database management (considered an asset).
- CPA designation or active enrollment in the CPA program (required).
Work Environment
This role operates within a shared office environment. The successful candidate should be comfortable managing potential interruptions and distractions associated with an open office, including moderate noise levels and frequent team interactions.
