We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Payroll Administrator to join our exciting organization! As a key member of our team, you will report directly to the Corporate Controller. This position is responsible for the accurate and timely review of the payroll run by ADP, as well as keeping relevant employee information up to date. As a member of the accounting team, the Payroll Administrator will also perform various accounting tasks and provide support to other roles within the department as required. Other responsibilities will include special projects within the office that require research, data collation, tracking and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reviewing bi-weekly payroll run by ADP for all salaried and hourly employees as well as making ad hoc payments.
  • Conduct monthly payroll analysis report for manager review
  • Review digital timecards and hours worked for completeness and accuracy and ensure hours are categorized and allocated accurately
  • Verify payroll profiles for all new employees, and ensure wage changes and vacation policies for all employees are applied accurately, as advised by HR
  • Run bi-weekly GL journal entry report for upload
  • Review, update, and administer payments to benefit provider and other payroll related invoices
  • Process/enter AP invoices verifying approvals, and payment processing for assigned companies
  • Prepare month-end functions accurately and on a timely basis
  • Prepare annual investment statements for employees
  • Create required internal management reports from the payroll system
  • Annual distribution of T4s
  • Answer employee questions around ADP and payroll
  • Reconcile payroll totals and ensure all EHT deductions & workers compensation are made as scheduled
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with government regulations and other legal requirements in the provinces that we operate in
  • Stay current with payroll regulations and labour codes, standards, and work methods in the provinces that we operate in.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Completion of Canadian Payroll Management Certificate Program; or a diploma or certification in Payroll from a recognized college or technical school is required
  • 3-5 years working experience in full cycle payroll in BC or Ontario is required
  • Working experience with ADP Workforce Now is preferred
  • Knowledge of payroll processing procedures and payroll tax laws required
  • Advanced computer literacy, including proficiency in MS Word, Excel, accounting software and email required
  • Full cycle accounting experience
  • Knowledge of accepted accounting rules and practices including IFRS
  • Strong aptitude for learning new technology and adapting to unfamiliar software programs
  • Able to maintain a high level of confidentiality in all interactions
  • Ability to organize and write procedures in a logical/methodical manner
  • Good time management skills
  • Excellent attention to detail

This is an in-office position based out of our Head Office in Kelowna BC.

Salary Range: $55,000 - $68,000
