What you will be doing:

As a Mental Health Therapist, you will provide counselling to vulnerable children, youth, and their families in either our partner schools or in our main office. This role encompasses both school-based work and also some more traditional in-office counselling work. You will collaborate with other service providers in a “circle of support” model for children and their families.

  • Work with individuals, couples, and families, including children and caregivers to heal from the effects of toxic stress and complex trauma
  • Build relationships of trust with children, caregivers, teachers, administrators and other professionals
  • Use a sound theoretical basis, in particular, short term therapy techniques, to provide service to clients for a wide range of issues
  • Promote awareness of healthy brain development and effects of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE)
  • Assist clients in connecting with community resources (assessment and referral)
  • Support client advocacy and system navigation

What you will bring to the role:

  • Master's Degree or PhD in Social Work, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, Pastoral Counselling, or equivalent
  • Three years formal counselling experience
  • Experience with families is required
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Computer literacy

Background Check Process & Requirements:

As a part of the selection process, The Family Centre will conduct reference checks with your most recent employers.

  • Police Information Check – Vulnerable Sector and Intervention Record Check (completed within the last 6 months)
  • Child Intervention Record Check (completed within the last 6 months)
  • Certification and registration in good standing with applicable professional association(s)
  • Our Children Are Sacred Youth Suicide Prevention Training or ASIST Suicide Intervention Training, required within 3 months of start date

Compensation - Our comprehensive compensation package offered to employees reflects a strong commitment to employee wellbeing and is competitive within the marketplace.

  • $66,686 to $83,017 annually
