We are looking to hire an experienced Heavy-Duty Service Truck Mechanic (Journeyman) to join our growing team in Slave Lake, Alberta.
As a Heavy-Duty Service Truck Mechanic, you will inspect, service, and maintain our range of heavy-duty equipment. You will be responsible for driving to the job site, inspecting equipment, carrying out services, conducting repairs, and providing routine maintenance to a diversified fleet. Some travel to remote worksites may be required for extended periods of time.
Responsibilities:
- Inspect, service, and maintain a mobile and off-road fleet such as trucks, trailers, and other heavy equipment for proper performance.
- Adjust, test, and repair engines, steering systems, braking systems, drive trains, vehicle suspensions, electrical systems, and air-conditioning systems.
- Diagnose faults using computerized testing equipment.
- Adjust equipment and replace faulty parts.
- Repair damaged equipment parts and perform major repair work when necessary, including welding and cutting where needed.
- Clean, lubricate, and conduct routine services on heavy-duty and automotive vehicles.
- Consult with other Mechanics and Supervisor when needed.
- Prepare and submit necessary reports (daily, weekly, etc.).
- Actively participate in the compliance of the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Assurance System.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired skills and Experience:
- Licensed Journeyman or Red Seal as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic.
- At least 3 years of experience as a Heavy-Duty Mechanic.
- Must have a Class 5 driver's license at minimum - Class 3 is preferred, with clean drivers abstract.
- CVIP license.
- Proven work experience with diesel or heavy equipment.
- Strong understanding of computer testing technologies.
- Extensive knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic & electrical systems, and construction equipment.
- Welding and cutting abilities.
- Ability to lift heavy machinery.
- Ability to work after-hours if required.
- Effective communication skills – verbal and written.
