West Fraser offers a range of exciting career opportunities for individuals seeking challenging and rewarding careers. Cariboo Pulp is currently recruiting for a Journeyperson Pipefitter.

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Pipefitter will be a key player in a company-wide continuous improvement effort through daily use of troubleshooting and predictive, preventative maintenance strategies. As a member of this high performing team you will be responsible for working safely with all machinery within the pulp mill.

You'll Do:

  • Performing equipment repairs within planned time frames and completing the related record-keeping
  • Reading and interpreting drawings, specifications, and codes to determine layout, type and size of pipe, and tools to use
  • Applying knowledge of system operation to select the most suitable pipe type and size
  • Performing general maintenance work including replacement of worn components
  • According to specifications, install support equipment like hangers, brackets, pneumatic equipment, and hydraulic cylinders
  • Inspect the worksite to ensure no obstructions to the pipe and if there are any holes or interference, repair or modify the design
  • Cutting pipes using handheld and power tools like hammer and chisel, cutting torch, pipe cutter, and pipe cutting machine
  • Threading and bending pipes using pipe bending tools and threading machines
  • Assembling and installing tubes, fittings, and non-metallic attachments.
  • Joining pipes using threads, soldering, welding, brazing, or cemented connections
  • Checking systems for leaks
  • Inspecting piping systems and machinery to detect machinery malfunctions

You have:

  • A valid Red Seal Pipefitter certification
  • Heavy industry experience
  • Commitment to working safely and creating a safe work place
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work independently with little supervision

Compensation Package:

  • The hourly pay rate for this position will follow the collective agreement between Unifor 1115 and Cariboo Pulp & Paper Company. The current rate for this position is $48.66.
  • Outstanding benefits package including medical, dental, pension, life insurance, disability, accident insurance, vacation, and holidays.
