West Fraser offers a range of exciting career opportunities for individuals seeking challenging and rewarding careers. Our High-Level Division in Alberta is currently recruiting for a Production Area Supervisor.

Reporting to the Production Manager, the Production Area Supervisor is responsible for supporting Team Members and Leaders in a functional area of our OSB manufacturing process. Focusing on safety, reliability, quality and skill development, the Production Area Lead will be a key contributor to our site's success.

You'll Do:

  • Lead daily operations within the designated functional area, ensuring adherence to production schedules, quality standards, and safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with the Production Manager and other department leads to optimize production efficiency, minimize downtime, and resolve operational challenges.
  • Implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance process reliability, product quality, and overall mill performance
  • Supervise a team of operators and technicians, providing guidance, coaching, and support to foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and excellence.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations, identify training needs, and facilitate skill development programs to enhance team capabilities and effectiveness.
  • Promote a safe working environment by enforcing safety policies, conducting safety training, and leading incident investigations as necessary
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to production output, efficiency, and quality, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Analyze process data, troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, and collaborate with maintenance personnel to ensure timely resolution of issues.
  • Drive initiatives to reduce waste, optimize raw material usage, and improve energy efficiency in alignment with environmental sustainability goals.
  • Ensure compliance with product specifications, regulatory requirements, and quality control standards through regular inspections, testing, and process audits.
  • Investigate quality deviations, root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence and enhance product consistency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement quality improvement projects and drive a culture of continuous quality enhancement throughout the organization.

You have:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership role within an OSB manufacturing environment or similar heavy industrial setting.
  • Demonstrated expertise in process optimization, equipment troubleshooting, and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve challenging objectives.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities with a keen attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Solid understanding of safety regulations, environmental compliance, and quality management systems.
