Are you a Technical Sales Professional with a Mechanical Engineering background looking to join an industry leading client? Are you comfortable, and able to strategically travel across Canada, and into the US? Cameron Lappin of Lock Search Group is currently working with a leading industrial organization which supports a range of industries across North America. Our client is a specialized manufacturer; and a strategic leader within their industrial sector. Given their goal, and focus on market share advancement, they are motivated to add National Sales Manager to lead and grow their national footprint. This home-based, individual contributor sales role will be based out of the Lower Mainland, but will have to travel across Canada, and into the US. The successful National Sales Manager will be a dynamic and highly motivated consultative sales professional who has compelling drive, is mechanically advanced and possess a track record of solution ‘value-based' selling in their previous sales/business development positions. In this role, you will work closely and directly with end-user utilities, consulting engineers, and large mechanical contractors, providing commercial offers with support from the inside customer service team. Engage in all phases of projects, from planning to execution, offering technical advice and driving the commercial aspects of tender preparation through to final bidding. By maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders, the incoming Sales Manager will ensure defined sales growth targets are consistently met and exceeded. Responsibilities:
  • Prepare commercial offers with support from the inside customer service team.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal & external stakeholders.
  • Engage in all phases of projects, from planning to execution, offering competent technical advice.
  • Lead the commercial aspects of tender preparation and assist in final bidding processes.
  • Consistently achieve and exceed sales growth targets and category-specific goals.
  • Offer first-level technical and engineering assistance to customers and end users.
  • Expand and maintain the customer base by developing strategies to prospect new distributor accounts and high-volume end-user opportunities.
  • Represent the company at industry trade shows, conferences, and webinars.
  • Stay current on administrative tasks, including CRM updates, expense tracking, special pricing, and key customer and competitor information.
  • Collaborate with inside sales to execute best-in-class customer support strategies.
  • Provide technical support on installation sites when needed.
  • Share product updates, training, promotions, discontinued items, and sales volume reports with clients promptly.
  • Oversee territory management, including product promotion, marketing, sales, and after-sales service to consulting engineers, distributors, contractors, and direct users.
  • Report crucial customer feedback and competitive insights to the Sales and Product Management teams.
  • Submit market assessments and customer requests for potential new products, including relevant criteria and details, to Product Management.

Qualifications:
  • Post secondary education is a must, with significant preference to Mechanical Engineering graduates (P.ENG is a plus)
  • 5+ years of experience in technical and business to business sales
  • Excellent negotiation and presentation skills – ability to sell to plant operations personnel, engineers and maintenance leadership, mechanical contractors.
  • Track record of success with territory account management skills
  • Essential familiarity with industrial piping systems and applications
  • Knowledge, or experience in mechanical systems, piping, or HVAC is essential
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent time management, CRM proficiency, and organizational skills
  • Willingness to travel up to 50%, including into the US (travel expected at 30-40%)
  • Focus on customer service and teamwork
  • Demonstrated leadership and coaching skills with the ability to influence and train
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite; Outlook, Word, Excel
  • Possess a valid driver's license and passport (some travel to the US will be necessary).
This home-based British Columbia position is supported by a strong base, annual incentive (up to 50% of salary), competitive car allowance, RRSP matching, and extended benefits.
