Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced Commodity Trading Manager to lead our Central & South American commodity trading operations. This individual will be responsible for managing a team of traders, driving strategic growth, and enhancing profitability with our meat category, including but not limited to pork, poultry, and beef. The Trading Manager will play a pivotal role in building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and customers, while also identifying new business opportunities and ensuring the success of trading activities across multiple geographical regions.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of traders to achieve sales targets and drive business growth within the meat trading category in Central & South America, with a strong focus on Colombia.
- Develop and execute strategic trading plans that align with company goals and market trends.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, customers, and industry partners to enhance trading opportunities and ensure long-term success.
- Oversee negotiations and execution of buying and selling activities, ensuring profitability and compliance with company policies.
- Monitor and analyze market trends, competitor activities, and industry developments to identify new opportunities and mitigate risks.
- Collaborate with the procurement, logistics, operations, and sales teams to optimize supply chain efficiency and meet customer needs.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of trading activities, including profit margins, inventory management, and financial performance.
- Represent the company at trade shows, conferences, and industry events to promote business development and expand the company's network.
- Provide mentorship and support to team members, fostering a collaborative and results-driven work environment.
- Manage key accounts, ensuring customer satisfaction and addressing any issues or concerns promptly.
- Collaborate with the finance and accounting teams to ensure accurate billing, collections, and compliance with financial requirements.
- Travel as needed to meet with suppliers, customers, and attend industry events.

Qualifications/Skills
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Global Supply Chain, International Trade, Business Administration, or a related field is an asset.
- 7+ years of experience in commodity trading, with a proven track record of managing and growing trading portfolios.
- Previous experience trading in the Central & South American market, specifically Colombia.
- Prior experience in leading and managing a team of traders is highly desirable.
- Fluency in Spanish (both written and spoken) is required. Proficiency in additional languages is an asset.
- Extensive experience in the Colombian market is highly preferred, with a deep understanding of its trading practices, regulatory environment, and key industry players.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- In-depth knowledge of global food commodity markets, particularly in protein, produce, or seafood.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to assess market trends, forecast opportunities, and make data-driven decisions.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, and experience with trading software is an asset.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a strong sense of initiative and a results-oriented approach.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
