Overview:
We are seeking a qualified and highly motivated Sous Chef to join our culinary team at Best Western Mountain Lodge. Reporting directly to the Executive Chef, you will play a key role in ensuring smooth kitchen operations, particularly during our busy conference season.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the timely delivery of high-quality dishes for both Café orders and banquet functions.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance food revenue, reduce kitchen expenses, and boost departmental productivity, all while ensuring an exceptional guest experience.
  • Stay informed on current culinary trends and collaborate with the Executive Chef to develop innovative menu items that will captivate our guests and engage our team.
  • Monitor and manage staffing levels to meet operational needs.
  • Meet daily with the Executive Chef to discuss business operations and ensure alignment on daily, weekly, and monthly objectives.
  • Ensure that all health and safety practices are taught and adhered to, following BC Health regulations.
  • Promote and enforce professional work habits, encouraging integrity and recognizing it in others.
  • Enforce hygiene and sanitary regulations in line with BC Health guidelines.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of three years in a culinary supervisory role within a high-volume hotel environment is required.
  • Red Seal journeyman certification or equivalent is required.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and efficiently in a team environment.
  • Ability to remain calm and perform effectively under pressure.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Proven leadership skills that foster employee growth, development, and teamwork.
  • Ability to adapt to changes with ease.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Must be available to work evenings and weekends.
