Greenhouse is seeking a Sanitation Operator. As a member of the saniatation team, you will be responsible for carrying out specific sanitation tasks in the production facility. Responsibilities will include the operation of the CIP (clean-in-place) system to clean and sanitize equipment, tanks and pipelines; assemble and disassemble equipment for proper manual cleaning/sanitizing per manufacturer's instructions. The Sanitation Operator will handle the safe and efficient production of products according to established procedures, following all quality and safety protocols and workplace policies.

Statement of Work & Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the production facility is always food safety-ready by cleaning, scrubbing, and sanitizing all equipment, utensils, tanks, sinks, drains, etc. Perform housekeeping to include cleaning floors, walls, ceiling, air vents, lights, stairs, baseboards, handrails, trash cans, etc., etc.
  • Operate the CIP (clean-in-place) and COP systems.
  • Responsible for handling and preparing cleaning chemicals, preparing sanitizers, preparing chemical concentrations, handling, and storing the chemicals, and managing chemical accidents.
  • Understand the Standard Operating Procedures and Inspection Regulations.
  • Connect fittings, pipes, and equipment to configure processing set ups.
  • Complete record keeping items such as identifying cleaning cycles on charts, measuring supplies, and sanitizing by chemical strengths.
  • Collect the required samples needed for Quality Assurance testing.
  • Complete cleaning checklist once line has completed run.
  • Assist production staff with cleaning up major projects as needed.
  • Take direction from the Sanitation Leader and/or QA team to resolve sanitation-related issues.
  • Analyze and resolve sanitation problems and assist workers in solving sanitation work problems.
  • Responsible for adhering to food safety and quality system requirements by committing to meet all pertinent regulatory, customer and SQF requirements and report any deficiencies.
  • The employee must use all personal protective equipment provided by the company in compliance with OSHA regulations.
  • Learn and adhere to the production facility, sanitation, OSHA, safety and security policies, procedures, and regulations of innovative technologies
  • Held accountable for food safety and regulatory responsibilities related to this position by following Food Safety and Quality procedures.
  • Understand the food safety risks related to scope of work within the manufacturing process.
  • Be empowered to escalate food safety issues to leadership and resolve food safety issues within this scope of work.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • High School Diploma, GED or Skilled trade training preferred or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Minimum 2 years sanitation experience in the food industry/similar manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on attitude to execute sanitation procedures daily.
  • Ability to work required equipment safely and responsibly.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects up to 25 kgs.
  • Effective verbal and listening communications skills; planning, organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, blueprints, and other technical diagrams.
  • Knowledge and experience with the sanitation process, cleaning chemistry, chemical storage, handling and dispensing systems and sanitary design principles.
  • Knowledge of industry related quality systems and inspection programs, cleaning systems (CIP, COP), and chemicals and their analysis. Ability to work with strong chemicals in a safe manner.
  • Knowledge of HACCP, GMP, WHMIS, Food Safety, Health, and Safety Regulations.
  • Forklift driving/safety training (certificate) preferred.
