Job Title: Full-Time Family Support Worker
Reports To: Supervisor
Job Summary
Serving children and families who are experiencing short-or long-term challenges. The primary duties include assessing the needs of the families and providing support with an Individual treatment plan that is tailored to each specific need. Family Support Workers will maintain a safe environment and engage with the families to provide the best service possible. Under the general direction of the Family Support Supervisor/Directors, the Family Support Worker will provide in-home assistance for the family, participates in the development of in-home intervention strategy, and assists the family in developing more independence with guidance and support as they become a healthy family unit.

Responsibilities
- Working collaboratively with parents to strengthen the parent-child relationship
- Assisting parents in learning how to problem-solve
- Working with children (youth) and families to identify resources and activities in the community and connecting families to available resources and services to enhance their individual development.
- Building on the strengths of the family and involving extended family members and other community resources to assist the family.
- Working closely with child and family services team members and others to provide services for families involved with the Good Life Reunification Home Program as identified in service plans.
- Working towards early intervention and preventive measures versus formal intervention by identifying positive support systems and services for families.
- Incorporating parenting skills, financial management, resource development, discipline methods and household management.
- Interacts and engages with the whole family unit supporting their emotional, physical, and social development.
- Ensures that Daily Reports are completed for the assigned family.
- Ensure that Daily Vehicle Inspections are completed and Record keeping for daily fuel logs.
- Transporting parents to their programs, medical appointments, and weekly grocery shopping.
- Transporting and assisting children to school, until bussing Transport is arranged.
- Education Qualifications
- Education: 1 years' Experience with working in a human services field. Certificate or Diploma in Child & Youth Care, Family Support Community worker, Social Work diploma, or combination of education, training, and experience will be considered, dependent on reference checks.
- Current Criminal Record Check and current Vulnerable Sector Check
- Knowledge in the areas of Addiction, Mental Health, and Trauma.
- Experience with the Child and Family Services sector and legislation.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, MS Word, excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Clean Drivers Abstract- 3 years
- Class 5 Valid driver's license
- Standard First Aid Training
Note: Willing to work shift work if needed.
