We are looking for a motivated Early Childhood Educator Assistant to join the Childcare team!
POSITION FUNCTION:
Under the direction of the Childcare Manager or Coordinator, the Early Childhood Educator Assistant helps ECE staff in the day-to-day programming for children of students at the English Language Centre.
- Working with Newcomer children at a Licensed Child-minding program
- Familiar with MOSAIC's childcare programming philosophy and educational objectives and understands clearly his/her role in achieving the stated goals and contractual outcomes
- Familia with strategies outlined in the Ministry of Health documents "Guiding Children's Behaviors " and "Ensure the Child's Environment is Healthy and Safe"
- Responsible for tasks related to food preparation, kitchen duties, and routine kitchen maintenance and maintaining food supplies
- Supports ECE staff in planning and implementing developmentally and culturally appropriate activities for children's programs that conform to licensing requirements.
- Attends and takes an active role in department staff meetings, as appropriate
- Assist the Coordinator by faxing, scanning, copying, and filing documents
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school completion, Early Childhood Education Assistant Diploma/Certificate, and up-to-date BC license to practice.
- Understanding and respect for various child-rearing practices, familiarity with BC ELFW, and BC CCLR Act
- First aid certificate, Food Safe, and WHMIS certifications
- Tuberculosis screening & immunization record required
- Some experience working with children in an educational setting.
- Must be reliable, sensitive to the needs and concerns of immigrant families, versatile, and flexible
- Valid and satisfactory criminal record check required
- Ability to speak a second language is an asset
COMPENSATION: $24.82 - $25.70 per hour
HOURS: on-call, casual (LINC classes scheduled Monday - Friday)
The successful candidate must be able to commute to Vancouver and Surrey childcare locations.
