Your RoleAs the Grain Originator, the successful candidate will complement the high-volume contracts of the Merchandising department by developing and maintaining relationships with key grain producers in the local area, actively acquiring market information, and sourcing grain directly from farms to bring in-house to meet both export and domestic customer needs. Day to Day
  • Identify and pursue business opportunities with producers.
  • Meet with producers to collect grain samples and foster relationships.
  • Serve as the primary contact for all matters related to grain purchasing, including negotiations, and delivery of grain in-house.
  • Keep producers updated with relevant market information.
  • Review and promote grain marketing programs.
  • Provide the P&H merchandising team with first-hand grain market insights from producers.
Qualifications
  • Demonstrated success in grain origination, particularly within the local region, and a deep understanding of the agricultural industry.
  • Must be available to travel periodically.
  • Strong proficiency in sales techniques and negotiation strategies, with a proven track record of meeting and exceeding sales targets and successfully closing deals.
  • Exceptional customer service, relationship building and networking skills.
  • Competence in using agricultural software systems and working knowledge of Microsoft 365 Application Suite, with a high proficiency in Excel.
