Job Title: Mechanical Estimator
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Estimator to join a large mechanical and electrical company based in Mississauga. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and detailed cost estimates for mechanical systems in large-scale construction projects. This role requires strong technical expertise in mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and piping, along with the ability to work collaboratively with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure competitive and comprehensive bids.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, piping) for large-scale construction projects.
- Review project specifications, drawings, and documents to ensure all mechanical work is captured in the estimate.
- Perform quantity take-offs for mechanical systems and collaborate with suppliers and subcontractors to gather pricing information.
- Analyze mechanical drawings, specifications, and proposals to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare bid proposals and tender submissions that meet project budgets and timelines.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including project managers and engineers, to ensure alignment between the estimate and project requirements.
- Maintain and update estimating databases, ensuring cost data is accurate and up-to-date.
- Ensure estimates comply with industry standards and the companys quality expectations.
- Provide support during the construction phase, ensuring cost control and addressing any variances between estimated and actual costs.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a Mechanical Estimator, with a focus on large-scale construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and piping.
- Proficiency in estimating software and tools, as well as Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical documents.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with project teams and subcontractors.
- A diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
